but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40 v31 [ESVUK]

Have you ever been stuck in a waiting room, the minutes dragging on? Waiting can feel like time is slipping away, especially when we want things to happen right now, but Isaiah 40:31 tells us “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength”.

Waiting isn’t passive, it’s about trusting God in the pause.

A friend once shared how she’d been struggling to find a new job; she felt discouraged but rather than rushing into decisions she prayed, waiting for God’s direction. Eventually the right opportunity came and she could see how God had been preparing her all along.

See, when we wait on God we aren’t wasting time, we’re building resilience. The more we wait in faith the more God gives us strength to face life’s challenges.

So the next time you’re waiting, whether it’s for a new job, a healing or an answer, trust that God is at work and in his timing he will renew your strength.
