I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me

[This reflection by Chris Ginter was published in the weekly news bulletin of Horley Baptist Church, 10/Nov/2024]

Over the last 14 months I have gone through one of the most difficult times in my life with illness. Of course I have been in difficult times before.

At age 46 I lost my husband to cancer, he was 49. I have faced so many other difficulties, but in the midst of them all Jesus has always been a very present help in trouble, a way through the wilderness, all we have to do is follow. During all these times, at various points in my life God has provided people to come alongside and blessed me with folk who understand, perhaps with a kind word, a game of Scrabble or just a hug.

The Holy Spirit provides deep and meaningful encounters with Himself. Just to feel the presence of a loving heavenly Father as we cry out to Him. Our God is able to do far more than we ask or expect according to His Holy Spirit within me. The love of Jesus in the body of Christ is amazing and I’ve appreciated that love more than anything else during this time.

So I’m finding that in crying out to Him, He opens many doors and the courage to go through them one at a time has been quite difficult, but with God all things are possible.

With Blessings, Chris Ginter
