Court Lodge Needs Us

[This reflection by Chris Ginter was published in the weekly news bulletin of Horley Baptist Church, 18/May/2025]

It has been so encouraging lately to see so many people welcomed into our church for special events – Easter celebrations, Family Fun Days, baptisms, Christmas happenings. But the amazing, wonderful thing is that Jesus is turning up palpably by His Spirit as we worship and praise Him!

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest”. Right now, all around us many are carrying burdens and facing problems that are too heavy for them to carry. Responsibilities seemingly impossible to cope with, causing physical, emotional and mental stress. Our church is situated on an estate where people desperately need prayer, friendship and love.

Please, Lord, show us how to be like Jesus where we live, so that we can “bring a word in season to those who are weary”.[1]

Let’s keep up the good work – there is much more to do. Let’s not say, “There are still months until the harvest. Look at the fields. They are already white for harvest”.[2]

We will rejoice, bringing in the sheaves!

Every blessing …
