[A ‘Tuesday Challenge‘ originally prepared for the congregation of Horley Baptist Church during December 2025]
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3 v16 [ESVUK]
To my Father, who is in heaven, epitome of holiness, worthy of all glory and respect, by whose word heaven and earth were created and are maintained; the very essence of love, patience and justice; you are unwilling for anyone to perish and so you sent your Son to provide a way back to you;
I give you thanks.
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1 v21 [ESVUK]
To Jesus Christ, my saviour and my spiritual brother, whose own birth involved the announcement by the angels, the apprehension of your parents, the admiration by the shepherds, the adoration of the Magi and the anger of Herod; and who by your death made salvation available to all those willing to believe in you; and by your resurrection I have received assurance of eternal life;
I give you thanks.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14 v26 [ESVUK]
To the Holy Spirit, my divine companion and mentor, whose presence is a source of strength and guidance; who encourages my prayers, directs my feet in the way I should walk and mitigates the consequences of so many errors and sub-optimal decisions.
I give you thanks.
How good is the God we adore,
Our faithful, unchangeable friend;
Whose love is as great as his power,
And neither knows measures nor end.‘Tis Jesus, the First and the Last,
Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home;
We’ll praise him for all that is past,
And trust him for all that’s to come.
