The Prophet’s Lament

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.
Lamentations 3 v21 [NKJV]

This snippet from Jeremiah’s lamentations represents a switch from a negative despondency to a positive appreciation of the blessings that the Lord had prepared for him.

Do Whatever He Tells You

Inspiration for most of my articles in Yours come from conversations with people. This one is no different. After the service a couple of weeks ago, someone came up to me and asked if he could ask a question. He said he wondered why God allowed so much trouble and sorrow in the world. He said that we didn’t ask to be born, and if we knew what the world would be like, we would probably have chosen not to come into it.

I Believe

I believe in God the Father Almighty Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;[1]

This month, May 2025, sees the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea. This council and subsequent deliberations led, in due course, to the compilation of a series of statements of the Christian faith into a common creed.

It’s Painful!

We have just finished this month’s teaching series ‘The Power to Change, Breaking Free for Good’. Even before the first sermon, I knew I was going to hear things that hurt. You see – for me at least – finding freedom has always involved pain. I think that’s because of the stuff that needs to be ripped out of me first – stuff that I’ve been in bondage to for many years.

Bees, Creeds and Measuring Up

Did you notice a particular buzz today? The 20th May each year has been designated as World Bee Day; the purpose of the day is to help recognise and promote the importance of bees and other pollinators in the production of crops and maintaining the natural environment. The date has been chosen as it is the anniversary of the baptism of Anton Jansa who pioneered the keeping of bees. Was your baptism a memorable occasion?

Court Lodge Needs Us

It has been so encouraging lately to see so many people welcomed into our church for special events – Easter celebrations, Family Fun Days, baptisms, Christmas happenings. But the amazing, wonderful thing is that Jesus is turning up palpably by His Spirit as we worship and praise Him!
