Message 3: Join In – serving where you’re gifted.
Welcome to the third part of our series. This one’s all about getting stuck in. See, one of the responsibilities of church membership is to find a way to serve. In 1 Corinthians chapter 12, Paul says, “The church is like a body. One body, many parts. The hand doesn’t say to the eye, “I don’t need you.” We’re all needed, and we all have something to contribute.
God has given each of us gifts. Some are great with kids. Some love making coffee or playing music or fixing things. Some quietly bless others behind the scenes. None of it’s wasted. All of it matters. And when every part plays its part, the church flourishes.
Now, there’s lots of ways to serve. Some upfront, some behind the scenes, some weekly, some occasional. You might help welcome people on a Sunday, support youth or children’s work, make refreshments, join a prayer team, help with tech, music, maintenance, meals, mentoring. You get the idea. We’ll never force you into a role you hate. But we’d love to help you discover something that fits your personality, your passions, and availability.
Serving isn’t just about filling a rotor. It’s part of how we grow. When we step out to serve, we often discover things about ourselves. We build friendships. We learn humility. We become more like Jesus, the one who said, “I came not to be served, but to serve.” This is kingdom living. And you get to be a part of it.
So, where might you join in? What are you good at? What brings you joy? What could you try? We’d love to chat with you and help you find a place where you can serve and thrive. In the next message, we’ll talk about giving generously. But for now, take a moment to ask, where might God be inviting me to get involved?
