Message 4: Give Generously – fuelling the mission through giving.
Welcome back. So far, we’ve talked about growing together and serving together. In this message, we’re exploring another key part of membership, giving generously. Now, let’s be honest, talking about money can feel awkward. But what if generosity isn’t about guilt, but about grace?
Jesus talked more about money than almost anything else. Not because he wanted something from us, but because he wanted something for us. In Matthew chapter 6, he said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.
See, giving is one of the ways we show what matters most. It’s not just about keeping the lights on. It’s about worship. It’s a response to God’s generosity towards us. Here’s the practical side. Your giving makes church ministry possible. It funds staff, supports mission, pays for coffee and kids work and youth clubs and heating and community outreach and so much more.
Your generosity is part of every life that’s touched through the church. Paul said in 2 Corinthians chapter 9, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under pressure. For God loves a cheerful giver”.
Giving looks different for everyone. Some can give a lot, some a little. What matters most is the heart behind it. As members, we invite you to give regularly, sacrificially, and joyfully, however God leads you. It’s not a fee for belonging. It’s a way to say, “I’m in. I want to invest in what God is doing here”.
Maybe you already give faithfully. Thank you. Maybe this is new to you. Well, why not start with something regular, even small? And if you’re not sure how it all works, well, we’d love to help.
In the final message for this series we’ll look at how members help discern the church’s direction. But for now, take a moment to reflect. What does generosity look like for me in this season?
